Shiomitsu Sensei has written three books on Wado Ryu Karate Do outlining the syllabus of the Wado Academy from 10th kyu (white belt) to 1st kyu (brown belt).

These can be purchased from the club or directly from Wado Academy HQ.

Aside from the items detailed below, the books covers many principles and concepts as well as delving into kaisetsu of the kata movements.

 

This is the first book in the series covering the grades 10th kyu to 7th kyu.

Includes the kata Kihon Kata, Pinan Nidan and Ippon Kumite (1-4)

The second in the series and covers the gradings from 6th kyu to 4th kyu.

Book includes kata from Pinan Shodan to Pinan Yondan, Ippon Kumite (5-10)

The last of the books covering all the brown belt Kyu gradings (3rd-1st kyu) and by far the heaviest. No wonder as it includes the kata Pinan Godan, Kushanku and Naihanchi.

It also includes Nihon Kumite (1-2), Goshin Ho, Kumite Gata (1-6) and Kihon Kumite (1-4)

Although this book may not be officially sanctioned by the Ohtsuka family it is however the only way to obtain an English translation of Ohtsuka's first general book on Wado Ryu karate.

The writing in this book really shows the motivations and background to Ohtsuka Sensei's approach to the formulation of Wado Ryu karate as a system.
