Kumite Gata demo movie

This footage was taken at Corin Pedgen's Haslemere club which is also a member of the Wado Academy. A group of young Japanese students along with their instructors were visiting the South coast of England and contacted Corin to arrange a visit where they would do a demonstration. The group was headed by Akihiko Kobayashi Sensei (6th Dan JKF Wado Kai) and Fumitoshi Kimura Sensei from the Ken Sei Kan.

For those more advanced and technically minded, take this movie as just an introduction to kumite gata and not as reference. I can tell you that against the final chudan zuki attack, I was far too late in my response which was my mistake. It should have been earlier and it lacked the "noru" principle. The punching arm should have rode down onto the attacker's arm and struck them in the chest before they could make full extension. Hopefully you can see some of the principles of simultaneous attack and defence, along with unbalancing the opponent (kuzushi) in play during the demo.
